| 1st Grade Pastel and Paper |
For this project, we had leftover interiors from paper plates we had used to make halos out of the rims for our All Saints Day celebration. What to do with a round cutout? Well we used pastel oils and explored hatching and making "textured" bodies with feathering on these sturdy plate centers. The rest was simply using scraps of construction paper and googly eyes! Turkey time!
Our 2nd graders learned about weaving paper. We used preprinted circle templates with horizontal lines drawn. We cut these out and folded in half to make slits. We wove multicolored strips of construction paper and used preprinted turkey part templates to complete. Great sequencing practice and concentration skills. Reversing the strips was the hardest part for the children to grasp, but when I told them it would look like a checker board if they did it correctly, they soon learned how to reverse each paper strip.
